Anton Källberg and Borussia Düsseldorf have agreed to a contract extension that will last until 2027, Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) announced on Tuesday.
Källberg has been playing in Düsseldorf since 2016, and he has since won two Champions League titles and six German championships with the club. Those six German championships tie the total number of championships earned by TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, the Bundesliga club with the second-highest number behind Düsseldorf.
“I am very happy that I can continue to be a part of Borussia Düsseldorf,” Källberg said in a statement from Düsseldorf, per Table Tennis Bundesliga. “The club is my sporting home.”
With an individual record of 9:2 (+7), Källberg sits tied with Anders Lind and teammate Dang Qiu as the Bundesliga’s No. 3 player. He has defeated stars such as Benedikt Duda, Ricardo Walther and Martin Allegro this season.
Källberg, the current No. 31 Men’s Singles player in the world, reached the quarterfinals of WTT Champions Frankfurt 2025, in which he took down global superstars Truls Moregard (No. 5) and Alexis Lebrun (No. 9). He has also advanced to the Round of 16 at WTT Singapore Smash 2025, WTT Champions Chongqing 2025 and WTT Champions Yokohama 2025.
The 28-year-old is a member of the Swedish national team, and he earned a silver medal for his country in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. On his way to that medal, he defeated former Düsseldorf teammate Timo Boll in four games.
After finishing last season as the record champions, Düsseldorf currently ranks as the Bundesliga’s third seed with an 8-3 record and a point differential of 16:6. This is Düsseldorf's first season following Boll’s retirement, which they have since responded to by adding Kanak Jha and Li Yongin to a roster of Källberg, Dang Qiu and Borgar Haug.
Düsseldorf will play its next match on Jan. 11 at 8 a.m. EST against TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt.
