Los Angeles Spinners star Ľubomír Pištej (SPINDEX: 2717) will not compete in his team’s Week 9 matches after suffering an adductor injury on Tuesday, Major League Table Tennis (MLTT) sources tell Table Tennis TV.
Andrew Cao (2571) will take Pištej’s place on the Spinners’ active roster during Week 9.
Sources say that Pištej will be sidelined for up to two weeks and that his injury is not serious. Pištej is expected to return for the Spinners’ Week 13 matches in Hollywood, Fla., from March 6-8.
Pištej holds a singles percentage of 41.7% (15-21) and a doubles percentage of 58.3% (21-15) this season, and he ranks as the league’s No. 32 player on its official power rankings list. He makes up one half of one of the league’s most formidable doubles tandems, as he and Aditya Sareen (2636) have won 16 of their 24 doubles games (66.7%) when playing alongside one another.
Cao currently ranks as the league’s No. 75 player in his second season with the Spinners. His team re-added him in August after dropping 2025 second-round draft pick Choi Hyo-joo due to visa complications.
The Spinners have a record of 4-8 with 114 points heading into Week 9, and they look to escape the bottom of the West Division. They will face the Blazers (2-7, 75 points), Texas Smash (4-2, 74 points) and Portland Paddlers (7-2, 125) from Jan. 9-11 in Portland, Ore.
All three of these matches will be streamed exclusively on Table Tennis TV, and the Smash’s match against the Paddlers on Friday will be free to watch. You can watch these matches on TableTennis.TV, iOS, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV, and you will receive a 30-day free trial after signing up.
