In a stunning development at WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, both Sun Yingsha (Women’s Singles No. 1) and Wang Chuqin (Men’s Singles No. 1) have withdrawn from their respective semifinal matches due to injury.

Sun bowed out after she suffered a left ankle injury during her Women’s Singles match against Kuai Man (Women’s No. 4) on Saturday. This is the first time that Sun has ever withdrawn from a match.

Man will advance to the Women’s Singles Final and face compatriot Wang Manyu (Women’s No. 2), who took down Chen Yi (Women’s No. 9) in her own semifinals match.

Wang withdrew from his Men’s Singles semifinal match against Truls Moregard (Men’s No. 4) due to a back injury. Wang’s withdrawal sets up a final showdown between Moregard and Tomokazu Harimoto (Men’s No. 5), a rare final match without a Chinese participant.

Earlier on Saturday, Wang and Sun (Mixed Doubles No. 3) lost in the Mixed Doubles final against Korean duo Lim Jonghoon and Shin Yubin (Mixed Doubles No. 2).
