Chen Sun became the second player in Season 3 to win eight singles games in one weekend (Howard Lao/Major League Table Tennis).

Carolina’s Chen Sun (SPINDEX: 2602) has been named Player of the Week for Week 13 of Major League Table Tennis (MLTT), the league announced on Tuesday.

Los Angeles’s Aditya Sareen (2704), Princeton’s Cho Seungmin (2818) and Carolina’s Enzo Angles (2770) also received nominations for Week 13 Player of the Week.

Sun won eight of her nine Singles games during Week 12 after sweeping Princeton’s Hsien Tzu Cheng (2544) on Friday and Florida’s Tashiya Piyadasa (2376) on Saturday. Her only loss came against Los Angeles’s Matilda Ekholm (2584) on Sunday.

This is the tenth time a player has won eight or more Singles games in one weekend this season, a feat Sun also accomplished during Week 2. That makes Sun the second player in Season 3 to win at least eight Singles games in one weekend, following Chicago’s Emmanuel Lebesson (2790), who did so in Weeks 7 and 11.

Those eight wins now give Sun a power rating of 768.6, which makes her MLTT’s No. 5 player and its top-ranked woman. She holds a Singles percentage of 75.8% (25-8) and a Golden percentage of 58.2% (39-28), both of which rank in the Top 10 league-wide.

Sun wins her second Player of the Week nod, making her the fourth player and second woman to earn this honor multiple times in Season 3. This is the fourth time a Gold Rush player has won a Player of the Week award this season, after her first win in Week 2, Mohamed Shouman (2655) in Week 2 and Angles in Week 12.

Sun helped Carolina earn an undefeated Week 13, which put them at the top of the East Division with just three matches left to go. Carolina will play those three matches in front of their home crowd in Charlotte, N.C., where they will have a chance to clinch a spot in the postseason by the end of Week 14 on Sunday.

Carolina will face the Bay Area Blasters on Friday, the New York Slice on Saturday and the Portland Paddlers on Sunday. All of these matches will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST.

These matches will be streamed exclusively on Table Tennis TV, which can be found on TableTennis.TV, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
