Manav Thakkar (Men’s Singles No. 38) has withdrawn from WTT Champions Frankfurt 2025 due to an undisclosed illness, World Table Tennis announced on Thursday.
Thakkar’s would-be opponent, Felix Lebrun (No. 7), will advance to the quarterfinals automatically. Lebrun will face the winner of Shunsuke Togami (No. 19) and Anders Lind (No. 21), which will be decided on Thursday.
“Unfortunately, I am sick and cannot play further,” Thakkar said in WTT’s post. “I would have loved to play more matches.”
This tournament was Thakkar's first WTT Champions event. In the first round, the 25-year-old upset Tomislav Pucar (No. 30) in five games to win his first-ever WTT Champions match.
Before Frankfurt, Thakkar was a semifinalist at WTT Star Contender Chennai 2025 and WTT Contender Buenos Aires 2025. The 25-year-old also advanced to the Round of 32 in both WTT Europe Smash 2025 and WTT China Smash 2025.
Thakkar is expected to participate in WTT Star Contender Muscat 2025, the final event before WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025. He will play in the Men’s Doubles tournament alongside fellow Indian Manush Shah (Men’s Doubles No. 7).
“I would also like to wish all the players the best of luck, and I will be back soon after fully recovering,” Thakkar said in WTT’s post.
