Wondering who the American table tennis stars of tomorrow are? This weekend, you have a chance to find out.
Table Tennis TV will stream the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) West Regional Championships 26 from Saturday, Feb. 21 to Sunday, Feb. 22. The event will begin streaming at 12:30 p.m. EST on both dates.
Schools and athletes from the Western United States will compete to earn their place in the NCTTA Finals in Rockford, Ill., which Table Tennis TV will stream on April 10-12, 2026. When the West Regional Championships conclude, the top three Coed teams, the top two Women’s teams, the top eight Men’s Singles players and the top four Women’s Singles players will automatically earn their spot in the Finals.
Reaching that spot in the Finale won’t be easy. Not if University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley)’s Ved Sheth has anything to say about it. The two-time reigning champion is the highest-rated player participating in this event, and he’s eyeing his third straight trip to Rockford.
The UC Berkeley star will face some incredible competition from the rival University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Ethan Liu, Ryan Wu and Kai Zarehbin came in second and third/fourth, respectively, last year, and they’re both preparing to take home the gold this year.
The Women’s Singles tournament is wide open this year, as UCLA’s Joanna Sung will not defend her crown. This year could be teammate Angie Tan’s chance to avenge last season’s second-place finish, or an opportunity for California Institute of Technology’s Amber Liu to prove why she’s the West Regionals’ highest-rated woman.
Two schools lead the pack for Coed Teams, and it’s the same two. UCLA and UC Berkeley are both eyeing another Coed title, even if it means eventually facing one another in the title match for the fourth consecutive year. But they won’t be alone; recent bronze medalists Stanford University (2025) and University of British Columbia (2024), as well as 2023 silver medalist University of Washington, are all hoping to pull off an upset this weekend.
UCLA, Stanford, British Columbia and Washington are all sending their Women’s Teams to San Francisco for the West Regionals, but only one of those teams can take first place. Recent history says that it will be UCLA, the winners of the last three Women’s Team events, but anything can happen with stars Amy Wang and Rachel Sung not competing in this year’s event.
